If the risks of your shoot or stunt suggest a more comprehensive medical cover than a single unit nurse or medic you might need a fully equipped Medical Support Unit.
These are single-manned marked emergency vehicles carrying comprehensive trauma and resuscitation equipment (including cardiac defibrillators, pulse oximeters, full emergency drug kit, analgesic gases, burns kit, and splinting equipment).
As well as emergency equipment MSU’s are equipped with full ‘unit nurse’ kit so our staff can still deal with minor wounds an ailments.
Medical Support Units make easily identified medical points at outdoor locations and are also ideal for filming on the streets or for tracking shots where your medical cover may need to be ‘deployed’ on public roads. The additional equipment and drugs carried allows our staff to deal more comprehensively with medical emergencies and traumatic injuries.
There are however limitations to what even the best single paramedic can do. Single manned vehicles cannot transport a casualty to hospital and single staff cannot move seriously injured casualties who require immobilization. High risk shoots should always consider a full ambulance crew as medical cover but, as ever, we are happy to discuss your requirements offer impartial advise and liaise with stunt co-ordinators or safety advisors to make sure the right cover is there on the day.
